In a recent development, the acting Minister of Defense for the Taliban, Mullah Mohammad Yaqoob, has strongly condemned Pakistan's decision to evict Afghan refugees, deeming it as an oppressive measure that could escalate tensions between the two neighboring nations.
Yaqoob voiced his concerns during the 14th graduation ceremony at the Police Academy in Kabul, emphasizing Pakistan's policy as "inhumane, unjust, and savage." He warned that such actions could exacerbate the already delicate relationship between Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Backing this stance, Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesperson for the Taliban administration, took to the social media platform X to assert that Pakistan's treatment of Afghan refugees is unacceptable.
Yaqoob went on to call upon the international community, particularly the United Nations, to intervene. He stressed the importance of upholding human rights principles in this matter.
Additionally, Yaqoob advised Afghan traders who have businesses in Pakistan to consider relocating their investments back to Afghanistan. He urged, "Your businesses are benefiting them (Pakistan); it’s time to redirect these benefits to your homeland."
It is crucial to note that Pakistan has issued an order for approximately 1.73 million undocumented Afghan refugees to leave the country by November 1, or else they will face deportation. This decision has sparked significant concern and criticism from various quarters.
