Pakistani authorities are getting ready to carry out a big military operation in Mach and other parts of Bolan, assisted by local militias known as 'death squads.' The leaders of these squads, consisting of tribal chiefs and influential individuals, have been summoned to Quetta Cantt for discussions, as per sources.
The plan is to target Mach and various areas in Bolan using a significant ground force backed by air support from gunship helicopters and potentially drones.
This move is in response to the recent attack by the Baloch 'pro-independence' group in Mach. The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) executed the attack named 'Operation Dara-e-Bolan,' commencing on January 29 and concluding on January 31, resulting in the death of 13 BLA fighters and 78 Pakistani security personnel.
This attack, the most substantial of its kind, witnessed BLA fighters seizing control of Mach for two days, compelling Pakistani forces to withdraw. BLA claimed the involvement of 385 fighters in the assault.
On Saturday night, six additional dead bodies were brought to Quetta Civil Hospital. Authorities claimed these bodies were discovered during the clearance operation in Mach, but human rights activists and nationalists are concerned that they might be the remains of Baloch missing persons, often allegedly killed in staged encounters.
