In
the heart of Balochistan, a region marred by conflict and human
rights issues, the story of Arman Baloch highlights the deeply
troubling realities faced by its people. Arman, a happy teenager, was
forcibly disappeared on July 2, 2023, shattering the tranquility of
his family.
The anguish that Arman's mother endured during
his disappearance is a testament to the struggles faced by many
Baloch families. Despite facing mental and physical distress, she
embarked on a courageous journey from Quetta to Islamabad – a trek
spanning hundreds of kilometers – to demand justice for her
son.
Her resilience was met with indifference from state
officials during her one-month vigil at the disappeared persons camp
in Islamabad, in front of the National Press Club (NPC). The
emotional toll she bore during this time reflects the stark reality
of the challenges faced by families searching for their loved
ones.

Tragically, after seven months of uncertainty, Arman's body returned home with bullet wounds, revealing a grim fate. He had been extrajudicially killed in a fake encounter, falsely labeled a terrorist.
The situation took a darker turn when state actors initially denied Arman's mother the right to receive her son's body. Hours of torture and protests in front of the Civil Hospital in Quetta were endured before she could finally reclaim him.
This heartbreaking saga sheds light on the need for global attention to the human rights issues plaguing Balochistan. Behind the statistics lie the personal stories of suffering, resilience, and the urgent call for justice. Arman Baloch's case serves as a stark reminder of the unseen pain endured by the Baloch people, emphasizing the imperative for international intervention and advocacy to address the ongoing challenges in the region.
