In a compelling
press conference at the Geneva Press Club, Dr. Naseem Baloch,
Chairman of the Baloch National Movement (BNM), passionately shed
light on the critical challenges faced by the Baloch nation, urging
global intervention.
Highlighting the urgent need for
international attention, Dr. Baloch pleaded with the United Nations
and the global community to champion the cause of the Baloch people,
putting an end to the systematic injustices and violations they
endure. He stressed that global awareness is crucial for the Baloch
plea for freedom and justice to be heard and acted upon.
Emphasizing
Balochistan's rich cultural heritage, Dr. Baloch showcased the
nation's resilience and longstanding struggle for self-determination.
Despite historical upheavals, including British colonization, the
Baloch nation has maintained a distinct identity, language, and way
of life for millennia.
Providing historical context, Dr.
Baloch recounted Balochistan's declaration of independence in 1947,
followed by the illegal occupation by Pakistan in 1948. He
highlighted the Baloch nation's continuous resistance against this
invasion, revealing severe human rights violations such as enforced
disappearances, extrajudicial killings, torture, and arbitrary
arrests at the hands of Pakistani state agencies.
Expressing
deep concern over enforced disappearances and mass graves, Dr. Baloch
condemned the Counter-Terrorism Department's involvement in fake
encounters, perpetuating injustice and violence against innocent
Baloch civilians. He underscored the media blackout in Balochistan,
controlled by the Pakistan Army, restricting journalists from
reporting on ground realities and making international intervention
imperative.
The Chairman concluded the press conference
with a passionate call for collective action against Pakistan in
support of Balochistan, hoping that their plea would resonate
globally and prompt a just and humane response.
