On Saturday, a VIP convoy of Pakistani forces, heavily guarded, was targeted by a female suicide bomber in the Kech district of Balochistan. The convoy was en route from Turbat Airport to the city when the attack occurred. Multiple vehicles sustained significant damage, and there are reports of casualties and injuries among the personnel in the convoy. The government confirmed the incident, stating that the female bomber targeted a Pakistani forces vehicle at Chakar-e-Azam Chowk Turbat. A police vehicle was also attacked, resulting in the death of one policeman and injuries to two others, including a female constable. Further details are yet to be disclosed.
Later in the day, the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), a prominent armed group in Balochistan, claimed responsibility for the attack through a press release. The BLA's Majeed Brigade claimed responsibility and identified the suicide bomber as Sumaiya Qalandrani Baloch, a female self-sacrificer (fidayee) of the BLA. The group's spokesperson, Jeeyand Baloch, stated that a comprehensive statement regarding the attack would be issued soon.
